Skating in California

Napa Valley Inline Marathon
The route for this inline marathon is on a section of the Silvarado Trail, which runs along some of Northern California's most famous vineyards and wineries. Skaters usually make a weekend out of this event, starting with the San Francisco Friday night skate, continuing with a winery tour and party on Saturday, and skating the marathon and enjoying a picnic on Sunday.

Crystal Springs Inline Marathon
The full distance for this race around the Crystal Springs Reservoir in San Mateo, Northern California is 50 kilometers, but there are also 40k, 30k, and 10k distances.

California Inline Marathons of the Past

Desert Inline Marathon
For several years there was a rather informal inline skating marathon in the desert near Palm Springs, Southern California, but the Web site for that event is no longer online.

Long Beach Inline Marathon
The Long Beach Marathon in Southern California is primarily a running marathon, but for a few years they also had an inline skating event. The skating competition was cancelled after the 2005 Long Beach Marathon.

Malibu Inline Marathon
In 2004 the organizers of the Malibu Marathon added an inline skating event to their running marathon, but the skate race was cancelled before it occurred because some of the local skaters complained that the route along the Pacific Coast Highway was too dangerous.

Western Hemisophere Inline Marathon
This running marathon in Culver City, Southern California also had an inline skating event for a few years.
