African-American Roller Skating Archives
A repository of African American roller skating photos, posters
and other items is being created at the Moorland-Spingarn
Research Center at Howard University.
Tasha Klusmann of the non-profit Our Family Skate Association is working
with Howard University to add a roller skating section to the school's
Moorland-Spingarn Research Center, a huge bank of information about the
history and culture of people of African descent.
The "National African-American Roller Skating Archives Project" currently
has about 500 items, but founders are hoping to have 10,000 African-
American
related roller skating related items by the end of 2005.
The archive includes items such as photos, fliers, skating clothes,
tickets and programs from events and contests.
If you would like to donate any African American roller skating
items to the archive you can send them to:
Our Family Skate Association
PO Box 41236
Washington, D.C. 20018
Items must be accompanied by a donation form.
