Bauer Hockey was originally a Canadian company, but
now they are owned by Nike
and their official company name has been changed to
Bauer-Nike, Inc.
After Nike purchased Bauer, the Cambridge
Canada plant was closed. The Bauer production line in
Quebec, Canada plant remained open, but most of Bauer-Nike's
manufacturing was moved to countries where manufacturing
costs are less expensive.
Bauer is described by Nike as
being an "autonomous subsidiary" within the Nike company.
Bauer is most well known for their
line of ice and inline hockey skates, but
from time to time they
have also manufactured
fitness and recreational inline skates.
