History of bandy in ChinaChina first became a member of the Federation of International Bandy (FIB) in 2010 when the Chinese Ice Hockey Federation was recognized as the national governing body for the sport of bandy in China. Four years later China formed a new governing body, exclusively for the sport of Bandy. The China Bandy Federation was established on December 13, 2014 as a joint effort of the China Sustainable Society, the Nordic Sustainable Organization, the Nordic Vikings, Hokay, Harbin Sports University, Chengde City and Beijing International. Shouting Zhang of the Nordic Sustainable Organization was selected as the federation's first chairman. The organization accepted an invitation from Federation of International Bandy (FIB) to come to Chabarowsk for the B-Pool World Championship, February 1-6. The Chinese team was mainly represented by players from Harbin Sports University. The federation planned explore developing bandy in several Chinese cities and regions including Chengde (home of the Winter Classic), Harbin, Changchun, Qiqihaer, Jiamusi, Funyuan (close to Chabarowsk), and Beijing.
