Bakuriani will host the 2025 European Winter Youth Olympic Festival
Today at the European Olympic Committee (EOC) 49th general assembly was made more important for our sport - Bakuriani officially accepted the status of the 2025th European Winter Olympic Festival.
This decision was supported by all the delegates of the European Forum held online format, who heard the necessary information about Georgia's statement, as well as the sad video presented by Seok.
Seok heads were watching this historical moment in the office of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia. Noted that starting today a new and more responsible phase for winter sports development in our country. The time has come for implementing serious investment in energy action, specific tasks and winter sports.
It all began with the fact that on July 2019, 30, 2025, the meeting of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia decided to host the 17th Youth Olympic Festival in Europe (EOC).
Later, in February 2020, the EOC assessment committee arrived in Georgia, whose members visited Borjomi and Bakuriani. The summary document prepared by the Commission noted that ′′ Seok leaders, Vice Presidents and General Secretary were actively involved during the visit. The Appraisal Committee had official meetings with Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Regional Development and Infrastructure Deputy Minister. All government structures fully support winter 2025 EYOF project in Georgia for winter sports and tourism. The visit was organized at a higher level and we are deeply convinced that there is a great potential in Georgia for a great festival in 2025."
After that, Georgian side presented a package of documents given by protocol to European Olympic Committees in terms and form. Since spring, the working group with Seok had active communication with Georgian government, EOC, winter federations and local experts. Our joint work has a good result - after 4 years Georgia hosts an important European Olympic Forum.
Georgia successfully hosted Tbilisi candidate for the Youth Olympic Summer Festival, whose hosted in 2015 We hope our new project will also be successful.
