Romania has submitted its candidacy for the organization of the 2009
edition of the European Figure Skating Championships reserved for seniors,
announced, on Wednesday, the president of the Romanian Skating Federation,
Marian Streche. The FRP official specified that this competition
would take place in Bucharest, and Romania has the support of the
International Skating Federation (ISU), provided that the Romanian
officials manage to build a new skating rink in the Capital.
"Our candidacy is very serious and we really have great chances
to get the organization organized. The only problem is the skating
rink, because we need a new one, the existing one in the Capital,
MihaiFlamaropol, not being at the required standards and

Winter Olympics Mini Version
The localities on the Upper Valley of Prahova were established
in the Bucegi micro-region and will organize in 2013, together
with the city of Brasov, the European Olympic Youth Festival
for winter sports. The International Olympic Committee accepted
Romania's candidacy for the organization of the
European Olympic Youth Festival for winter sports.
The event was awarded to us, because there was no other
country that wanted this competition. In order to host the
2013 competition, Romania must receive the final approval
from the CIO next year on the occasion of an exceptional
meeting that will take place in Istanbul. Until then,
the disciplines were divided into localities. Thus,
in Brasov will take place the ice competitions, ie
figure skating and speed skating and hockey matches.
For this, a new skating rink will be built and the
existing one in the Racadau neighborhood will be renovated.
The trainings will take place in Poiana Brasov.
Strange, but there will be no competition in the
Postavaru Massif.
