The first annual Roller du Chott Inline Marathon was part of the DÈfis du Chott multi-sport competition in Southern Tunisia, which included an inline skating event for the first time in 2003. The skating events included a full inline marathon, a half inline marathon, and a 10 kilometer inline race. The route ran through huge sand dunes in the desert where the base camp scenes were filmed for the movie "Star Wars".

Five Day Tour for Skaters in 2003
A group in France organized a 5-day "Roller du Chott" tour to Tunisia that will began on Thursday, October 16 and ended on Monday, October 20, 2003. The cost of the tour was $620 Euros and skaters were able to join the group in one of three French cities: Paris, Lyon, or Marseille.
