I'm stiff and sore (after two ten-hour days of intense skating)
but I'm DYING to get out and practice all the things
I learned. My new goal is to skate the entire Venice Beach bike
path on one foot!
I almost didn't sign up for the workshop, because I'm not
a speedskater (YET!) and I'm still on 4 wheels,
but after receiving extra
encouragement from Eddy the day before the workshop,
I decided to give it a try. I'm very glad I did,
because I didn't feel out of place at all. The
participants in the workshop had a wide range of
experience, from speedskaters with many years of racing,
to a beginning skater with only two months experience.
Eddy taught everyone the same thing at the same time
(even the double push!) but he adapted his instructions
and coaching and expectations to each person's skill level.
We had a terrific group in Long Beach this weekend, and I made
some wonderful new friends.
It was hard work, but it was also very rewarding and fun.
And a special note to beginning skaters:
If you can propel yourself forward, and
you know how to stop, you'll do just fine in Eddy's workshop!
