One of the things I like the most about inline skates is their portability.
It's difficult to tuck a bicycle or a set of barbells into your rucksack,
but packing a pair of inline skates is no problem. Taking your skates on a
trip allows you continue your regular fitness and training program when you
travel, but it also gives you a very special opportunity to meet and mingle
with the locals, even if you don't speak the same language.
When you're planning a vacation or a business trip, contact the skating clubs, skate shops, and skating schools in the area you'll be visiting, to learn about the best places to skate and find out if there are any group skating events in the area. If you want to participate in a skating event organized by a local skating club, find out if you need to become a member first (sometimes this is required by a club's insurance company. I usually also contact the local law enforcement agency to find out about local skating laws. Here are some resources to help you plan your next trip:
