NAME: Baikal Ice Palace
IN RUSSIAN: Ледовый дворец Байкал, Иркутск
Ice skating arena in the city of Irkutsk that built to host the 40th edition of the Bandy World Championships March 29 through April 5 2020. That event was rescheduled to October 11-17, 2021 due to the Coronavirus epidemic. The arena is the home ice of the Baikal-Energia ice hockey club and it is also a venue for ice speedskating. The arena's ice surface is 432 meters above sea level. Construction of the arena began 2018 but a 2019 flood delayed construction by limiting access to the site. The arena's grand opening ceremony was held on September 11, 2020 and its first official sports competition was the Russian Bandy Cup held September 11-16, 2020.
