John Broke His Wrist Inline Skating
Inline skater John Aurentz of broke his wrist while
skating on a Southern California beach bike path.
John Aurentz of Southern California broke his wrist
while skating on a busy Southern California beach bike path.
You may remember
John's article "A Beginning Skater's Diary: From Smoker to Marathoner".
John broke his wrist shortly after his first marathon,
and he is sharing his x-rays and photos to remind everyone (including
himself) to ALWAYS wear wrist guards when they skating.
He is hoping to prevent other
skaters from going through the months of pain and
hardship he endured after he broke his wrist.

From John:
I just wanted to update you on my recovery. Iim still
writing chapter 2 of my diary and will finish it when
I finish healing or when I start skating again in
earnest to get ready for a race. I saw
the doctor today and my wrist is healing very well.
He explained that the break was very long and
extremely bad. He removed one of the 4” pins and
re-casted the arm for another 4 weeks. Heill
probably pull the remaining 3 pins and make
me wear a brace and go to therapy for another
2 to 3 months after that.

From John:
Iim kind of a posterboy for wearing wrist guards. When I go to the
beach now, I raise my arm and gently urge other skaters to wear
wrist guards.
