What if You Only Have 2 Days to Skate in Mallorca?

Suppose you are in Alcudia and only have two days for skating, which tours would you recommend?

A fellow skater, who could not participate, after having read the Swedish version of this resume, raises the above question. Given I was fit (covered at least 500 kilometers over the past month) and was comfortable with my equipment (boots mainly), and had water supply for 4 hrs skating I would go for the following routes:

  1. First day I would skate the tour Sa Pobla - Büger - Campagnet - Moscari - Selva - Binianmar - Lloseta - Binnisalem - Sencelles - Sinéu - Maria de la Salut - Santa Margalida - Can Picafort - Port d´Alcudia.

That would lead me on flat ground to Sa Pobla, to Büger on its little hill and then some fairly easy rolling hills with magnificent views at Campagnet to Binnisalem. This tour should give you a nice view of both the landscape and the villages on the east side of Mallorca. Can you find the little bar with the huge TV screen in Biniamar, I would strongly recommend you to ask for pasta there. But do not look for a bar sign, cause there is none.

  2. The day after I would go for the mountains if I wanted to be macho and had it arranged with transportation down to Selva again. From Selva I would skate via Inca, Llubi and Sa Pobla back to Alcudia.

With no macho desires, I would skate north toward Puerto de Pollenca and halfway turn left to Pollenca. From Pollenca further direction southeast via Can Roig, cross the main road from Inca and go down to Sa Pobla. Then via Llubi - east toward Son Suan - southeast toward Maria de la Salut - Santa Margalida - the narrow road north to Muro via Son Morro - via Son Sorro to Can Picafort and back to Port d´Alcudia.

  3. If there was a third day I would probably do what I did not do; take the bus to Palma and skate across Mallorca back to Alcudia. After cruising Palma for a while, of course.
That is what I would skate if I had limited time in Alcudia. Bear in mind that the southeast part of Mallorca is totally unknown to us, so it might even be that the best Mallorcan skating conditions are still to be found? Anyone who wants to check it out, please do not forget to send Kathie Fry a good report that she can publish!
