Week 3 - Moving My Practice to the Beach
May 8 - May 14, 2004
My sister-in-law Natalie is not a total beginner.
She learned how to skate many years ago but
she has not skated that often
(in my lesson 1 photos you can see Natalie
walking around on a carpet with me
and
learning how to stop with me.
Natalie is very happy to learn how to skate all over again and
she is making a lot of progress. As a result, she wants to skate a
longer distance than she can in the school playground where we have
been doing our practice.
She suggested that we should move to the beach bike trail in Manhattan Beach.
Well, as you might remember,
I am scared of skating on the beach trail. But do I want to get over all of
my fears. So now we take the boys to the beach at 6:00 pm Monday thru Friday.
The boys enjoy building sand castles and we enjoy our rides.
So now everyone is happy.
My used skates make a lot of noises, but it is not from the
wheels, it is from the boots. The
noises are making me feel uncomfortable.
But what is really happening is that I am
am using this terrible boot noise as an excuse to buy some new skates.
I did a lot of research
on the internet. I have no experience to buy skates at all.
I read many articles on "how to buy a new pair of skates".
For me, it is not easy to buy one. I decided to go to the
local stores to try on the skates and order on the internet
for better price. I think Salomon skate fit me better than others,
I finally selected some new skates to buy.
This week I ordered a pair of Salomon Elite 2002 from
InlineSkate.com.
