Week 9
June 20 - June 27, 2004
I am going to be busy for the next two weeks. My little
sister is getting married on the 4th of July weekend and
we are going to have a family reunion vacation until the
12th of July. I am going to completely off of my skates for
one week. No class... no practice... shame on me!!!!
I did not skate much this week. I had 2 classes with Nat,
one is my regular training and the other is the marathon
clinic. The marathon clinic was fun. There are 5 people
in the class. We re-learned the basic long stride,
transfer power from one skate to another and drafting.
I was the least experienced skater in the group. Everyone
skated so fast and looked very pro. But I am very used
to Nat's teaching style, I just skated in my own space and
practiced the techniques.
I could not keep up the speed of the group
when we were practicing drafting. I was left behind
and was too far away from everyone to do any drafting. I looked like
a duck who is swimming super-slow compared to the rest of the
family. But I did good on the technique. I was able to
skate in a circle and do crossovers at the turn. I felt great.
I will do some long distance skating on June 28 and 30. I will
continue my journey on July 13th after finishing my
family duty. Have a great holiday weekend, everyone.
