Week 10
Weekend Beginning July 13
It's about three months since I started learning this sport. Kathie once
offered to show me to her favourit skating route in Venice Beach when I am
ready to do so. I decided to go with her on Thursday night(July 14th).
As mentioned to you on my last note, I was completely off my skates for
about two weeks. I took my skates to Manhattan Beach bike trail on
Wednesday afternoon to skate. It was a nice warm summer afternoon. The
trail is crowded with people who 're biking, skating and running. When I
started rolling, I felt like I have ever been on skates before. I legs
didn't want to move. I was scare to take my skate off the ground. I took me
45 minutes to get control and warmup on my skates. I skated very slow and
my legs was sored and tired. However, It was a nice time to wake up my
ankles, knees to practice and prepare for the trip with Kathie.
On Thursday, Kathie and I agreed to meet at Venice Beach pier at 6 PM. I
parked right on Washington street and walked to the pier. I put on my
skates and started rolling around while waiting for Kathie. It was fun to
skate with Kathie. She knows everything about this place. I have been
biking on this trail with my family. However, skating on the same trail
will be a different experience. I realized that I missed a lot of things by
just passing by the area on my bike. There are a lot of fun places that I
can stop and hang out. We skated for more than 2 hours and I don't know how
many miles that we skated. We started from Venice Beach Pier toward Santa
Monica. We stoped near the parking lot of the old Bay Watch movie set and
skated back. We skated slow, enjoyed the scenery and sharing laughs. It was
a very nice workout.
